Description:

Ours et Nante are two 1979 bronzes by Jean Robert Ipoustéguy, created for the monumental sculpture « l'Homme construit sa ville » ("Man Builds His City") in Berlin. Nante Eckensteher (literally "Nante the Lamplighter") is an iconic character from 19th-century Berlin theatre, a popular figure of the witty and resourceful common folk. The bear is the heraldic symbol of Berlin, appearing on the city's coat of arms since the 13th century.
