Lycée des Métiers d'Art - Saint Quentin (France)

Material:

Multiple wood essences, Bronze

Description

Real hommage towards Roman's cosmography, this realization represents a Armillary sphere, ancient tool that allows a 3D modelization of the celestian sphere.

Assembled in three parts, this art piece was manufactured using a variety of wood sculpting techniques, such as turned wood and marquetry work. Its vibrant colors were made using two dozen of tainted wood essences. Furthermore, bronzework was also used, using the lost wax technique and electrolysis engraving.
