Description

This cup in the shape of a poêlon, made of grey ware ceramic, was found near the boundary wall of a property belonging to a canon of the Saint-Piat chapter.

Produced between the 14th and 15th centuries, it imitates a cooking utensil that was not originally intended for drinking. The only known example of its production, this vessel evokes the religious symbolism of the blood of Christ, which nourishes the spirit.
